Up here in V.P.O. Bhullana, life moves at a different pace than the big cities. We are tucked away in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Being in Tehsil Baijnath means we get to see the mountains every day which is a nice change from the usual industrial views. Our place at Pin-176071 is where we handle the iron work and castings. It isn’t always easy getting supplies up these roads, especially when the weather turns sour in the winter. We have to keep a close eye on the mountain passes. The air is definitely cleaner here than at some of our other sites. Most of the workers are local folks from the surrounding villages. They walk in or come on bikes and there is a real sense of community in the shed. We don’t have those big glass lobbies you see in magazines. It is a rugged building because it has to be. The winters get quite cold so we usually have a small heater going in the office space while we check the manifests. It is a quiet kind of existence most of the time, just the sound of the work echoing against the hills. We focus on the daily tasks and try to keep things organized despite the distance from the main hubs. It is a solid place to work where everyone knows their neighbor and the mountains stay watching over us.
