Budha Mal & Sons Jewellers

Our shop is right at Scandal Point, which is probably one of the most famous spots in all of Shimla. We are in the Budha Mal Empire building. My family has been selling jewelry here for a long time, and the shop has stayed pretty much the same over the years. We have heavy glass counters and wooden shelves filled with gold and silver pieces. It’s a busy place because of where we are located. You can always hear the people outside walking on the Mall Road. We see all kinds of customers, from locals looking for wedding jewelry to tourists just peeking in. I spend my day sitting at the counter, showing different designs to people. We don't do any high-pressure selling. We just let people look and decide for themselves. My father still comes in every day to keep an eye on things. We keep the shop clean, but it has that old-fashioned feel to it. It’s not like those modern stores with bright neon lights. We prefer the traditional look. Dealing with gold is a big responsibility, so we take our work seriously. It’s about building trust with the families who have been coming to us for decades. It’s a steady business and we are proud to be a part of the history here at Scandal Point. It’s a good place to be every day of the week.
