G L Garments

Our workshop, G L Garments, is situated at 22, Mari Amman Layout on 1St Street in Gandhinagar. It is a small street, and everyone knows each other around here. Inside, you will hear the constant hum of sewing machines. There are scraps of fabric all over the floor, even though we try to sweep them up a few times a day. We have several tables where we cut the cloth and stack the finished pieces. It gets quite warm in the afternoons when all the machines are running at once. We keep some big fans going to try and move the air around. The light comes in through the open door at the front. We mostly deal with cotton and synthetic materials. My fingers are often sore from pinning things together. We don’t have a showroom or anything like that. People just come to the door if they need to talk to us. It is a very hands-on job and there is always something that needs fixing or adjusting. We have a small radio in the corner that we play sometimes to keep us company while we work. Gandhinagar is a good place for a business like ours because it is easy for people to find us. We just keep our heads down and focus on finishing the orders we have on hand.
