You can find Kerns Aeroproducts Pvt. Ltd. at A-10 in the Sipcot Industrial Park over in Irungattukottai. It’s a bit of a drive from the main city, but it’s where all the big plants are. We work on parts for planes, which sounds fancy, but the day-to-day is actually just a lot of careful measuring and looking at technical drawings. The shop floor is kept cleaner than your average workshop because of the kind of work we do, but it’s still a place of work with the hum of machines in the background. We spend a lot of time checking things over and over again. It’s a quiet kind of focus. The Sipcot park is quite large, so it’s always a bit of a trek just to get some snacks or run an errand outside. Most of us bring our own tiffin and eat together in the small break area we have. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generators to kick in, which gives everyone a minute to catch their breath. We aren't a huge corporation with thousands of people; we are a smaller team that knows each other well. The commute can be a pain on the highway, especially with all the trucks, but we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of Irungattukottai. It’s just about getting the parts made correctly and keeping the paperwork in order for the next audit.
