Wipro Ltd (Lighting Division)

This is where the Lighting Division of Wipro Ltd operates from in Chennai. We are situated at No.2/7 on Srinivasalu Naidu Cross Street. It’s a typical Chennai street, quite narrow and always something going on nearby. The humidity can be a bit much, but we have the fans going most of the time to keep things moving. We’ve got a mix of people here who have been with the company for a long time. The office isn't very large, but we make it work. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working on the computers. It’s not a place where we have a lot of visitors, so it stays pretty focused on the work at hand. We don't have fancy furniture or a big cafeteria, just a small corner for water and some snacks. The building itself is older, but it’s sturdy and keeps the rain out during the monsoon. Most of us just walk in from the nearby bus stop. It’s a very local feel, not like those big glass buildings you see in the IT parks. We prefer it this way. It feels more grounded. We see the same people walking past every morning while we're setting up. Sometimes we stop for a quick chat by the door. It makes the day go by a bit faster when you're familiar with the surroundings. We just show up every morning, do what needs to be done for the lighting side of things, and head home. It’s simple and we don’t try to make it more.
