Senior Engineer

My name is S. Saravanan and I’ve been working as a Senior Engineer here in Kanchipuram for quite some time. You can find me at No. 42 on Kumar Street. It’s a typical street in this town, often filled with the sound of people going about their business. Kanchipuram is famous for many things, but for me, it is just home and where I do my work. My office isn't anything special to look at from the outside. It’s just a regular building where I keep all my engineering gear and my reference books. I spend my days checking figures and looking over plans. I’ve always felt that the work is what matters, not how fancy the office is. People around Kumar Street know I’ve been at this for years. I don’t use a lot of big words when I’m explaining things. If something is broken or needs building, I just look at the practical side of it. Sometimes I have to travel a bit around Tamil Nadu for work, but I always come back to No. 42. It’s my base. I’ve seen the way construction has changed over the decades, and I try to keep up with it in my own way. I don't have a big staff, so I do most of the heavy lifting myself. It keeps me busy and I like the feeling of finishing a job and knowing it was done right.
