Our place is at 1A, Sarvatheertha Thenkaraibig, right here in Kancheepuram. It’s a town known for many things, but we’re just a small part of the daily life here. We run the Sb Devasree Chit Funds from this office. It’s been our base for quite a while now. We have a few people working here who handle the daily collections and the monthly auctions. Every month, the groups meet up in the back room. It can get quite lively during the bidding process when everyone wants the pot. We have to keep a very sharp eye on the numbers to make sure it’s all fair for every member. The building is tucked away from the main noise, so it stays relatively quiet until the members arrive. We don’t do big fancy brochures or advertisements. If you want to know about a chit, you just come in and we talk about it over the wooden desk. We use a lot of paper because we don't always trust the internet for everything. Our files are organized by color which helps us find things fast. It’s a practical system that works for us and our members. We see the same people every month, so we’ve become friends with many of them. We hear about their kids and their weddings or the new houses they are building. That’s the nice part of the job. It’s not just about the money; it's about the connections we have. We are just here doing the job every day.
