Sayee Leathers

We’ve been here at 12th Street in Kuberan Nagar for a while now. Most people know us around Madipakkam as the place that deals with leather. It’s a busy spot, units 11 and 12, where we keep all the materials and tools. We don't really do the fancy office thing. Usually, you’ll find us surrounded by scraps and rolls of leather, just trying to get through the orders of the week. It gets loud sometimes because of the machines, but that's just how the day goes. Dealing with leather is tricky work because every piece is different, and you have to be careful not to waste anything. We started out small and stayed that way, mostly because we like knowing exactly what's going on in the workshop. If you walk past the extension, you might smell the tanning or the glue. It's not a glamorous job, but we've gotten used to the dust and the long hours. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish up a batch if the weather has been too humid for the leather to set right. We just handle the daily tasks, answer the phone when it rings, and make sure things get sent out on time. There’s always a bit of a mess on the cutting tables, but we know where everything is. It's just a regular local setup here in Chennai, nothing more than that.
