We are based at 38 Old Mahabalipuram Road in Perungudi. Most people around here call it OMR. It’s a very long road known for all the big IT and research companies. Our building is a bit more modest than some of the newer glass towers. We are a research centre, so the atmosphere is a bit more serious. You’ll mostly see people in lab coats or technicians working on their computers. It isn't a flashy place. We have labs filled with equipment and shelves of old research papers and journals. The air conditioning is always on because of the sensitive machines we use. Sometimes the traffic on OMR is really bad, so we have a flexible way of coming in. We don't have a marketing team trying to sell things. We are just scientists and researchers doing our job. We spend a lot of time looking at data and doing tests. The break room is where we all catch up over tea. It’s a simple space with a few chairs and a kettle. We’ve been in this part of Chennai for a while and have seen the area grow immensely. We don't use a lot of big corporate words or have fancy mission statements. We just focus on the chemistry and getting the results right. It’s a quiet, steady kind of work that keeps us busy throughout the week. We prefer it that way, just doing our research.
