Ril

Our place is on Thillayadivalliyammai Street, specifically at number 3. It's a long name for a street, but it’s right here in Mamallapuram. The office is just a small room we've rented for Ril. It’s got a bit of a breeze if we leave the door open, which is nice because it gets humid here. We spend a lot of time just sitting at our desks and going through whatever needs fixing or filing. It’s not exciting work, but it’s what we do. We've lived in this town for most of our lives, so we know the area well. The tourists come and go, looking at the carvings and the sea, but we stay here and keep at it. Sometimes we walk down to the beach after we finish up for the day. The building itself is old and the paint is peeling in some spots. We don't mind. It's just a place to work. We have a small kettle for making tea, and that’s about as fancy as it gets. We don't use any big words or have long meetings. If something needs saying, we just say it. Most of our neighbors are shopkeepers or people working in the hotels. We all get along fine. It's just a regular spot on a regular street. We don’t have any big plans for the future. We just keep showing up every day and doing what's required of us.
