Precision Equipments is over in the Perungudi Industrial Estate at unit 130. Being in Chennai, we’re used to the heat, but the humidity inside the factory can be something else entirely. We’ve been at this location for a while now, and we’ve got a routine that seems to work for us. We handle a lot of equipment that needs a careful touch, so the machines are usually running from early morning until late evening. It’s a lot of sitting or standing in one spot, watching the gauges and making sure everything is aligned correctly. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings, and we have to be careful where we step. It’s a noisy environment with the constant hum of the lathes and the occasional clatter of something being moved. We don't have any fancy break rooms. Most of the guys just grab a snack at their stations or head to the small tea stall just outside the estate gate. We’ve got a small office space for the bills and the logs, but mostly we’re out on the floor. It’s a practical setup. We just focus on getting the work done and making sure the equipment is packed up and ready to go by the time the transport trucks arrive. There’s always another job waiting as soon as one is finished, so we don't have much downtime, and that is just how we like it.
