Karigar Furnitures & Interior Decorators

Our shop is at No 9 on Muthulaxmi Street. It’s in the Lakshmipuram area of Thiruvanmiyur. We’ve been working out of this space for a while, doing furniture and interior stuff. It’s a lot of manual labor and planning, but we enjoy the process of it. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. It’s more of a workshop feel where things actually get done. Karigar is what we call ourselves because that’s what we are—workers. We don't have a fancy website or a person to do our PR. We just talk to the people who walk through the door. Thiruvanmiyur is a nice part of the city to work in. Muthulaxmi Street isn't too loud, which is good when we're trying to concentrate on a project. We keep our tools ready and our materials organized as best as we can. Some days the shop is a bit of a mess with sawdust or fabric scraps, but that’s just a sign that we’re busy. We don't try to sound like a big corporate firm because we aren't one. We’re just local people who know how to put things together. If someone needs something for their home, we see if we can make it happen. It’s practical work for practical people, and that suits us just fine. We just try to get the measurements right and make things that stay together for more than a few years. It's how we make a living.
