Jilaba Chit Fund Private Limited is based in Kanchipuram, right on Chengalvarayan Street. Our office is at 9B, which is easy enough to find if you know that part of town. Kanchipuram is famous for its temples and silk, but on our street, it’s just regular daily life. We’ve been in this building for quite a while now. It’s a bit of an older place with high ceilings and thick walls that keep it somewhat cool in the summer. We handle chit funds for the local weavers and shopkeepers. They come by after they’ve finished their morning work. The office is usually filled with the sound of shuffling paper and the scratch of pens. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment, mostly just our record books and a basic computer for the essentials. Sometimes the street outside is blocked by a procession or just some cows wandering through, and we just watch from the doorway for a minute before getting back to work. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours. We have a small bench outside where people can sit if they get there before we open the shutters in the morning. Everyone around here knows the Jilaba name because we’ve been on Chengalvarayan Street for years. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
