Jainsons Tambaram West

Our shop is located at No 14 on Shanmugam Road, which is pretty much the heart of Tambaram West. If you’ve ever been around here, you know how busy the railway station area gets. We are just a short walk from all that chaos. The morning starts with us sweeping the sidewalk out front because the dust from the road just settles everywhere. It’s a simple shop, nothing too flashy. We have a few benches for people to sit down if they need to wait for a bit. Most of the people who come in are in a bit of a rush to get to work or catch a train, so we try to keep things moving quickly. We handle all the stock ourselves, so you’ll often see us hauling boxes from the delivery truck in the afternoon. It is good exercise, I suppose. The interior is mostly just rows of shelves with whatever we are selling at the time. We don't have a big office or anything, just a small desk in the corner where we keep the accounts. We eat our tiffin together in the back and talk about whatever is on the news. It’s a tight-knit group of us here. Sometimes the rain floods the street a little and we have to put out sandbags, but that’s just part of being on this road. We’ve been here a long time and the neighbors know us well.
