Jahan Leather Exports

Jahan Leather Exports operates out of Nagalkeni in the Chrompet area. Our office is specifically at 50, Anna Salai, inside the R.S. Complex. If you know this part of town, you know it’s the hub for leather. The whole street has that distinct scent of tanned hides and treatment chemicals. We spend most of our mornings checking the quality of the leather pieces coming in and getting them ready for shipping. The R.S. Complex is an older building, so the stairs are a bit narrow and it gets crowded when we have a lot of stock moving in or out. There’s a tea stall right outside where we usually take our breaks and talk about the day’s work. We’ve got a small team here handling the paperwork and the packing. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy rolls of leather around and making sure the labels are stuck on properly. We don’t really do much fancy advertising; people mostly find us because we’ve been at this Chrompet address for a long time. The office is often full of samples draped over chairs or stacked on the corner tables. It’s a practical space meant for working, not for looking pretty. We just focus on getting the exports out to the docks on time. Sometimes the traffic on Anna Salai makes it hard for the pickup trucks, but we manage to get things loaded eventually. We’ve seen businesses come and go in this complex, but we’re still here.
