Global Leather (P) Ltd. is over at No. 2, Balaji Nagar 1st Street in Ekkaduthangal. We’ve been in this spot for quite a long time, way before all the big glass buildings started showing up nearby. Our workshop is pretty basic. We have long wooden tables where we lay out the leather and some old machines for stitching and thinning the hides. The smell of the chemicals and the raw leather is very strong, but after a few years, you don't even notice it anymore. It’s a small operation, just a handful of us who have been doing this for a while. We don't have a website or a social media page. We just rely on the people who know us and keep coming back. Ekkaduthangal can get really crowded during rush hour, so we usually start early and finish before the worst of the traffic. We don't wear uniforms. Usually, we just wear old shirts that we don't mind getting stained by the dyes. It’s physical work, and our backs often ache by the time we head home. We don't have any big promises to make. We just look at the material we have and do our best to turn it into something useful. Sometimes a piece of leather has a flaw, and we have to figure out how to work around it. It’s just how it goes in this trade. We are just a local leather shop doing our thing.
