Living and working around Kovilambakkam means you see a lot of new buildings going up all the time. Our place is over at Maxworth Nagar, which is quite close to Dr Kamakshi Memorial Hospital. If you are coming from that side, you can’t really miss the turn. We spend a lot of time thinking about how to make a small room feel like it has more room, hence the name we picked. It’s not about doing anything crazy, just practical stuff like where a cupboard goes or how to fit a kitchen into a tight corner. The office is pretty straightforward. We have our drawings spread out and usually a few samples of wood or tile sitting on the table. The traffic on the main road can be a headache, but once you get inside the colony, it’s a bit quieter. We aren't a huge firm with hundreds of people, just a small group trying to get the layout of a home right. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the lines on the paper to match what someone has in their head. We just take it one step at a time. Most of our day is spent either here drawing or out visiting sites to see if the measurements actually fit the reality of the walls. It’s a lot of back and forth, but that is just how the work goes. We don’t do big speeches, we just look at the floor plan and start.
