Flora World

Alandur is a place with a lot of movement, and being here at St Thomas Mount means we see a lot of people passing through every day. Our shop, Flora World, isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a lot of green stuff and flowers everywhere. We spend most of the morning moving pots around and making sure everything gets enough water before the sun gets too high. Being located at No 7/12 on Thiruvalluvar Nagar means we are easy to find if you know the area, but sometimes people miss us because we have so many plants out front. It is a bit humid in here, especially when the fans aren't on, but that is good for the plants I suppose. We don't have a big corporate team or anything like that, just us working with soil and leaves. Sometimes the flowers arrive late or the weather doesn't cooperate, but we just deal with it as it comes. People come in looking for something for their balcony or a small gift, and we just point them to whatever looks healthy that day. There is always dirt under our fingernails and a bit of a mess on the floor from trimming stems. It’s just a regular local shop where we try to keep things growing in the middle of the city noise. We mostly just keep busy with the daily chores of running a plant business in Alandur.
