Design Lab For Experimenting Architecture

Our office, Design Lab For Experimenting Architecture, is tucked away in Nanganallur. We are on 1st Cross Street in State Bank Colony, which is a pretty decent place to be. If you’re looking for us, we’re close to J K Mahal. We’ve got a mix of stuff going on here. It’s not just your typical office where everyone sits in a cubicle. We have a lot of space for models and trying out different ideas. Sometimes things work, and sometimes they don’t, but that’s just how the process goes for us. The team is mostly local people who live nearby or don't mind the commute to this part of Chennai. It gets quite hot in the afternoons, so we have the fans going all day. We do a lot of drafting and talking through how buildings actually stay up and look decent. There’s always someone coming in with a new sketch or a question about a site. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. We just do the work and let the buildings speak for themselves. The neighborhood is quiet, which helps when we need to focus on some of the more complicated technical drawings. We’ve been in Nanganallur for a while now and we’ve gotten used to the rhythm of the street. It’s a practical place for us to work on what we enjoy doing most. We just keep at it every day.
