We are based at No. 3, 4th Street in M. G. R. Nagar, Pammal. Chennai Leather Fashions has been in this spot for a good while. The address says M. G. R. Nagar, and it’s a typical Pammal street with a lot of houses and small shops mixed together. Our building is straightforward. We do all the leather handling right here. It is a hands-on job. Your hands get tough and you learn to spot the differences in the hides pretty quickly. There is a lot of cutting and stitching involved. 4th Street is narrow, so when a delivery comes, everything else has to stop for a minute. We know most of the people who live around here. It’s not a fancy corporate setup. We have old fans on the ceiling and a lot of heavy-duty equipment. Sometimes the street gets flooded if it rains too hard, but that’s just life in Pammal. We just keep our heads down and focus on the leather. Chennai Leather Fashions is a small operation. We don't spend money on marketing or shiny signs. Most people find us because they know we are here on 4th Street. It is a basic way of doing things, but it works for us and we like being part of M. G. R. Nagar. We drink our tea outside when the sun goes down a bit and talk about the next day's work.
