Ananda Stores

We have been here at No 78/2 Karayar Koil Street for quite some time now. Being in St Thomas Mount means we see a lot of the same faces every morning. Most people just stop by for their usual things when they are headed to work or coming back home in the evening. The shop isn't fancy or anything like those big malls you see nowadays. It is just a regular place where we keep the shelves filled with what people actually need for their kitchens. Sometimes it gets a bit crowded around the counter, especially around six o'clock, but that is just how it is. We try to keep things organized, though boxes sometimes pile up in the corners when the delivery truck comes in. My family helps out with the stock and the billing. We know most of the neighbors by name. If someone is looking for something specific, we usually have it tucked away somewhere on a high shelf. The street outside can get noisy with all the traffic, but inside it is mostly just us dealing with the daily list of items. Chennai heat makes the afternoons very quiet, so that is when we do the cleaning and check what is running low. It is basic work, but it keeps us busy from morning till night. We don't really do much advertising because people just know we are here on the corner. It is a simple life running a store in this part of town.
