Lakshmi Store

Lakshmi Store is at 455, Raja Street in Walajabad. If you walk down Raja Street, you’ll find us easily among the other small shops. We’ve been a part of this street for a long time, and we know most of the people who walk past our door. The store is packed with all kinds of things, from basic groceries to household items. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when there are more than three people inside. We don’t have a big warehouse or a fleet of trucks. Most of our stock comes in on small vans or even cycles. We spend a lot of time rearranging the shelves to make room for new items. The floor is old stone and the ceiling is high, which helps keep it a bit cooler when the Walajabad sun is beating down outside. We don’t really do any formal advertising. Our business comes from the folks who live in the neighborhood and have been coming to us for years. You’ll usually find one of us standing behind the wooden counter, ready to help or just have a quick chat about the local news. It’s a quiet life, mostly, except for the busy mornings when everyone is out shopping for their daily meals. We just try to keep the shelves full and the shop tidy enough for the regulars.
