Bharathi Cement

We are set up at 32, Basavanagudi, which is where Bharathi Cement operates from. It’s a well-known part of town, so we get a fair amount of people stopping in just because they were passing by. The building is older, and we’ve had to fix the roof a few times, but it serves our purpose just fine. Dealing with cement means everything is always covered in a thin layer of gray dust. We try to sweep it out, but it’s a losing battle. My family has been involved in this kind of work for a long time. We don't spend much on advertising because word of mouth in Basavanagudi usually does the trick. When the trucks arrive with new loads, everyone has to jump in to help unload. It’s hard on the back, but it’s part of the daily grind. We keep our records in big notebooks mostly, though we have a computer that works when it feels like it. People come to us when they are building a new wall or fixing up their floors. We don't have a sales pitch. We just show them the bags and tell them the price. It is a very basic way of doing things, but it has worked for us so far. We just stay open until the sun goes down and then go home to get ready for the next day.
