You can find us at Abdul Hai’s place, right in the middle of Champupara Bazar. Being located in a market area means there is always a lot of noise and activity around South Kamrup Nidhi Limited. We can hear the vendors shouting and the rickshaws passing by all day long. Our office is just a simple room with enough space for us and a couple of visitors. We don’t have fancy decorations or expensive lighting. It is just a place where we keep our books and handle the money matters for the local community. People pop in while they are doing their daily shopping at the bazar. They might have a few rupees to save or they need to ask a question about their account. We don’t use any complicated systems here. Everything is kept in ledgers and we make sure to double-check everything by hand. It is a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us and the people here in Kamrup. We know everyone’s face and most of their names. It is a very hands-on kind of job. Sometimes we have to shout a bit to be heard over the market noise, but we don't mind. It makes the day go by faster. We close up when the market starts to wind down and head home. It is a busy life, but it’s a good one, and we like being right in the thick of things.
