Sainath Bhandar

Sainath Bhandar is located out in Beltola, Guwahati, specifically on Bongaon Road. It is a part of the city that has seen a lot of growth lately, but our shop remains a humble place. We mainly sell basic household goods and groceries that the local families need. Being in Assam, the weather can be quite unpredictable, with heavy rains sometimes making the road outside quite muddy. We just keep the shop open and wait for the rain to stop so people can come back out. Inside, it smells like spices and fresh grains. We have various sacks of rice and pulses lined up on the floor. My family helps me run the place, and we have been doing this for many years. We don't use any modern marketing tricks; we just try to be fair and honest with everyone who walks in. The shop is usually the busiest in the morning when people are getting things for their breakfast or lunch. We have a small radio that plays in the background while we work. It is a simple setup with wooden counters and old-fashioned weighing scales. We know the names of most of the people who live on this road. It is just a regular life of service here in Beltola, and we are happy to stay in this spot and keep our business going as usual despite how much the city changes around us every year.
