Our little office is situated at House No 1 in Village Khemajitpur. It is a very different vibe from the big cities, that’s for sure. Here, things move at a much slower pace. You can usually hear the birds or the sound of someone’s cow in the distance while we are working. The building is simple, just a local house that we use for the business. There aren't many people working here, just a couple of us who know the village well. We don't have air conditioning or anything fancy like that, just a big ceiling fan that wobbles a bit when it's on high. People from the village stop by quite often, sometimes just to say hello or ask about something local. We keep our records in big binders and try to make sure everything is in the right place. It’s a lot of manual work, writing things down by hand and double-checking the numbers. Sometimes the power goes out for hours, so we just sit on the porch and wait for it to come back. It’s a very honest way to work, I think. We don't use big words or try to act like we are some huge corporation. We are just part of the village like anyone else. Most of the time, we are just happy to get the work finished before the sun goes down and it gets too dark to see the ledgers. It is a quiet life but we like it.
