Sagars Pan Shop

If you are walking down Panjabari Road in the Juripar area of Guwahati, you will find us right there. It is a small pan shop but we stay busy throughout the day. People stop their bikes or hop out of their cars just to grab a quick pan or a pack of cigarettes. We also keep some small candies and chocolates for the kids who walk by after school. The space is quite tight so everything has to be kept in its proper place or we would never find anything. We spend a lot of time preparing the betel leaves and talking to whoever is standing at the counter. In Guwahati, people like to chat for a minute before moving on with their day. We have been in this spot for a good while and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. The traffic on Panjabari Road seems to get heavier every year but our little shop stays pretty much the same. We don't have any big signs or fancy displays, just the usual jars and the smell of sweet tobacco. It is a simple way to make a living and we are used to the long hours. Even when it rains hard, which happens a lot here, someone always stops by. We just keep the shop open and wait for the next customer to come around the corner. It is just how things go for us here in this part of Guwahati every single day.
