Weaving Folks Foundation

Weaving Folks Foundation is located in Mazgaon, right over in the Ketekibari area. We share space with Manju Saikia. It’s a nice part of Bhairabpad Mouza, quiet and green most of the year. People around here know each other well. We aren’t a huge company with a glass building. Instead, we work from a simple house where there’s usually some tea going. Most of our days are spent dealing with local matters and seeing how we can help out the community. It’s not fancy work, but it keeps us busy. The roads in Mazgaon can be a bit narrow, so we get a lot of foot traffic. Manju is usually around if anyone has questions. We started this because we wanted to be rooted in the village life. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. It is just a handful of us trying to make things work. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk. We use simple tools and keep our records in notebooks. It feels more real that way. Being in Ketekibari gives us a good connection to the local families. We don’t go around making big promises. We just show up every morning and do what is on the list for that day. It’s a slow pace of life but it suits us perfectly. Every now and then, the neighborhood children stop by to see what we are up to.
