Surjyamukhi Welfare Foundation

Surjyamukhi Welfare Foundation is located at House No. 1 in Hologuri Gaon. It is a small village area, right near the Langkachi OCS. If you live around here, you know it’s a place where everyone knows everyone else. We started this foundation because we wanted to see some changes in our own backyard. It is not some big organization from the city. It is just a few of us who grew up in this part of Assam and decided to use this house as a base for our welfare work. The building is simple, just like the rest of the neighborhood. We don’t have a lot of money for big projects, so we do what we can with what is available. Sometimes the rain makes the roads around Langkachi a bit muddy, which slows things down, but we don't mind. We spend our mornings planning and our afternoons talking to the neighbors. It feels right to be doing this here instead of somewhere far away. We focus on the basic needs of the village folks. There is no official mission statement hanging on the wall. We just look at what needs doing and try to figure out a way to help. Some days are slow and we just sit outside and watch the goats pass by. Other days, the house is full of people asking for advice or help with their papers. We just try to be useful to the people of Hologuri Gaon. It is a quiet life.
