South Asia Cancer Care Foundation

We are up here on the fifth floor of Divine Plaza, right by the Dispur Super Market in Guwahati. If you know G. S. Road, you know how busy it gets around here with all the cars and people moving about. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. We just have a few desks and some chairs where people sit when they come to talk to us. Most days it’s quite noisy because of the market downstairs, but we’ve gotten used to it over the months. We started South Asia Cancer Care Foundation because we saw how much trouble families have when someone gets sick. It isn’t easy finding your way through hospitals and paperwork, especially when you are worried. We try to help out as much as we can from this small space in Kamrup. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs, which is quite a climb to the fifth floor. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of staff. It’s just a few of us who live nearby and wanted to do something useful for the community. You can find us here most weekdays, usually drinking tea and looking over files. It’s simple work, really. We don’t have big speeches to give. We just focus on the people who walk through that door needing a bit of guidance or just someone to listen to their situation. Assam is home, and we just want to help our neighbors.
