Sewjjyoti Tea Federation

Our federation is based out of the ASEB Colony area on Sankar Mission Road. We are set up at Sanjib Bora’s place. It is easy to find because we are right opposite the Kali Mandir. You can often hear the temple bells from our office. Being a federation, we have people coming and going quite a bit. It’s a place where tea growers and others involved in the trade meet up. We don't have a corporate setup. It’s more of a community space. There are usually chairs pulled up for people to sit and talk about their crops. Sankar Mission Road is a well-known path, so people don’t have much trouble finding us. We spend a lot of time discussing the local tea situation and how things are going in the fields. It’s a lot of talk and a lot of planning. We keep our records in simple files and on a couple of old desks. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed but there is always work to do. We aren't trying to be the biggest or the most famous. We just want to make sure the federation stays together and people have a place to coordinate. Most of us have been in the tea world for most of our lives. It’s what we know best. We just keep the doors open and see who comes in today to talk about their tea leaves.
