If you’ve ever been to Fancy Bazar in Guwahati, you know it’s one of the busiest spots you could possibly pick. Our place, KLMA Iron and Steels Private Limited, is located at Lohia House on M G Road, specifically on the second floor. It’s right in the thick of the market chaos. Below us, there’s always someone shouting, trucks trying to squeeze through tiny gaps, and the general roar of the city. Our office is a bit of a sanctuary from that, though the noise still finds its way in. We deal mostly in iron and steel trading, which means a lot of shouting into the phone to be heard over the street noise. The room is filled with the smell of old paper and maybe a bit of dust from the road. We have some heavy wooden desks and chairs that have been here for years. It’s a family-run kind of feel, even if we are a private limited company. We don't go in for fancy carpets or glass walls. We just need a place to write out orders and keep the accounts straight. The stairs are narrow, and we often have people coming in and out with delivery receipts. It’s a fast-paced environment because in Fancy Bazar, if you move slowly, you get left behind. We just keep our heads down and focus on the iron trade, making sure the loads get to the customers on time without too much trouble.
