Our office is located in the Hemoprabha Apartment on Birubari Road, specifically at D-2 on the second floor. It’s in the Kalapahar area of Guwahati. Jwnglary Tea Factory Private Limited doesn't actually process the leaves right here in the apartment; this is where we handle all the administrative stuff. C/O G C Ghosal is the name on the mail. It’s a typical Guwahati apartment converted into a workspace. We have desks squeezed into the rooms and shelves bowed under the weight of files. Outside, the Kalapahar traffic is always moving, and you can hear the horns from the street below. We spend a lot of time talking to the factory workers on the phone and coordinating shipments. It’s a lot of back-and-forth communication. The air conditioner hums in the corner, trying to keep the humid air at bay. We have a small balcony where we keep some plants, but they are mostly covered in dust from the road. Working here feels like being part of a small family. We share lunch and talk about the tea prices or the weather. It’s a plain, functional office. No one wears suits here. We just come in, do the paperwork, and make sure the tea is moving from the gardens to where it needs to go. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve all gotten used to over the months and years of working in the heart of the city.
