Hs Edible Oils Private Limited is right on M.S. Road, directly across from the Bijili Ghar gate. It is a noisy area with the power house right there and people always walking by. The smell of oil is pretty strong around the building, especially in the late afternoons when we are finishing up a batch. Dr. Amit Kumar Gupta’s place is the landmark most people use to find our front door. We process oil here and it is definitely messy work. Your hands always feel a bit greasy by the end of a long shift. We get the raw materials in by truck and then the machines start humming. It’s a lot of heat when the press is running. We try to keep things organized, but in a small place on M.S. Road, stuff piles up pretty fast. The gate across from the power house is usually busy with traffic. People often stop by to ask questions or just to see what we are making today. We don’t do much talking though, mostly just working. The floor needs cleaning constantly because of the spills. It’s just how an oil business is. Some days are slower when the electricity goes out, which happens more than we'd like. When that happens, we just sit out front and wait for the lights to come back on. It is a simple living and we just wear clothes that can get dirty.
