Ayas Welfare Foundation

We operate out of Kalipur, over in the Fatashil area of Kamrup. We are based at Hira Devi’s place. It’s a residential neighborhood, so it feels very grounded. You see the same faces every day when you walk to the door. The area has a lot of history and the streets are quite lively. Our office is just a simple setup inside the house. We have a couple of desks and a shelf full of documents. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find fancy furniture or expensive rugs. We just have what we need to stay organized. Sometimes the neighborhood kids are playing outside and it gets a bit noisy, but we don’t mind. It feels like being part of a real family here. Hira Devi is well-known around here, so that helps people find us. We spend a lot of our time just handling the day-to-day things that come up. It’s a lot of writing and talking on the phone. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who have been doing this for a while. We’re used to the way things work in Fatashil. It’s a bit chaotic sometimes, but it’s our corner of the world and we’re happy with it. Usually, we finish up and walk down to the tea stall.
