Aanundoram Barooah Computer And Skill Development Council

This place is run out of Bhogpur, right near the post office at Bhogpur Chariali. We use a space at Tarun Chandra Saikia’s. Aanundoram Barooah Computer And Skill Development Council is a long name for what we actually do here. Mostly, it is just a small room with some equipment where people can come to pick up a few technical skills. We started this because we noticed people in the village had to travel too far just to get on a computer. It’s not a big operation. We have some older desks and the chairs aren't the newest, but they work fine for a couple of hours of study. We handle a mix of things, from basic typing to some more advanced stuff if someone asks. The lighting in the room isn't always the best, but we make do. It feels more like a community center than a formal school. People drop in, ask questions, and we try to help them out. We are usually here from morning until the evening. The local kids come by quite a bit. It’s nice to see them getting interested in technology. We don't have any fancy brochures or a front desk person. You just walk in and talk to whoever is available. It’s a very local thing. We are just trying to keep the place running so people have a spot to learn. It is quiet most days, which is good for concentrating on the screens. We just take it one day at a time here.
