Surya Bricks

If you are driving down Kadapa Road in Yerraguntla, you will probably see our stacks of bricks at 2/129. We are located quite close to the TTD Kalyana Mandapam, which is a big landmark that everyone around here uses for directions. Making bricks is what we do all day long and it is pretty tiring work. You have to get the clay right and then there is the heat from the kilns which can be a lot to handle during the summer months. Our yard is usually quite full and we try our best to keep the piles organized so the tractors can get in and out without hitting anything. Sometimes when it rains, everything slows down and we have to wait for things to dry out, which can be a real pain when we have a lot of orders to fill. You can usually find us walking around the yard checking on things or sitting in the small shed we use as an office. We do not have any big computers or fancy systems, just a notebook and some pens to keep track of who bought what. People in Yerraguntla know us mostly by word of mouth. It is a dusty kind of life and your clothes are never really clean, but we are used to it by now. The Mandapam nearby always has people coming and going for weddings, so there is always some life on the street. We just keep our heads down and keep the work moving.
