Sarkar And Sarkar Travel Agency is over in Ghoshpara. It’s been run by our family for a good while now. My brother and I handle most of the daily things that come up. People come in when they need to go somewhere, usually by train or if they need a car for a wedding or a long trip out of town. Ghoshpara is a busy area so there’s always noise outside the door. We have a small desk and a few chairs for when people have to wait. Booking things these days is different than it used to be. Everything is on the computer now, but some older folks still like to come in and talk face-to-face. They want to know exactly what time the bus leaves or if the hotel is near the station. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking schedules. Sometimes the internet goes slow and we have to tell people to come back in an hour. It’s just how it goes here. We don't do those big fancy tours you see on TV. We mostly help locals get their tickets and plan their small family visits. It gets busy during the holidays, everyone wants to go home at once. We just try to keep the paperwork straight so nobody gets stuck at a station somewhere. It’s a simple office, nothing special to look at.
