Marble King

Down in Ghoshpara, specifically at B-8/34 (c. A), you’ll find us at Marble King. It’s a bit out of the way compared to the city center, but we like it that way. The space we have here is mostly used for storing the bigger slabs that people want for their floors. We don't have much of a storefront, really. It’s more of a place where the work happens and the trucks get loaded. The address can be a little confusing for people who aren't from around here, so we often find ourselves giving directions over the phone. Most of the day is spent checking the quality of the stone and making sure the measurements are right. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting and shifting pieces that weigh quite a bit. We wear old clothes because the white dust from the marble gets everywhere and it’s hard to get out. There’s a small bench where we take our lunch and a calendar on the wall that’s a few months out of date. We don't pay much attention to the little things like that as long as the orders are going out on time. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for when the saws are running or a delivery is arriving. We just keep our heads down and do the work day in and day out.
