Our office is located in Krishnanagar, over in the Nadia district. We are basically staying at Mr. B.C. De’s place right on Station Road. It is a convenient spot since it is so close to the railway station, making it easy for the workers and supervisors to get in and out when they are travelling from other parts of West Bengal. This is part of the ECC Division, so we handle a lot of the engineering and construction coordination for the local projects around here. The office itself is pretty simple and tucked away on the road that leads right to the station. You can hear the trains passing by throughout the day. We have been here for some time now, and the locals in Krishnanagar know where to find us if they need to talk about the work happening in the area. It is a small team here, so everyone ends up doing a bit of everything, from handling the mail to checking on the site reports. We do not have any big signs or flashy lights, just a regular door with our name on it. Most of the day is spent on the phone or looking over maps of the district. It gets a bit crowded when the site engineers come back for their weekly meetings, but we make it work with the space we have. Most of us just walk to the nearby stalls when we want a quick snack or some water.
