I do most of my work from Flat No 404 in Chintamani Apprtment. It’s a regular residential building in Bhoir Wadi, so it’s not like a typical shop you’d walk into from the street. Being on the Kalyan Bhiwandi Road makes it easy to get around, even if the traffic gets a bit backed up near the Gajanand Maharaj Mandir. From the balcony, you can sometimes hear the bells from the temple when they have their ceremonies. Inside the flat, things are pretty much taken over by my brushes, tubes, and boards. I’ve had to move most of the regular furniture into the corners to make room for my setup. There’s usually a bit of a mess, with spots of paint on the rug and rags drying on the chairs. It’s quiet enough here to focus, which is why I like working from the apartment instead of a commercial space. My neighbors know what I do, and they don't mind the occasional smell of thinner in the hallway. I spend a lot of time looking out the window at the road while I’m thinking about the next piece. It’s a very personal space, not really set up for visitors, but that’s where all the painting happens. Living and working in the same place means I can start whenever I feel like it, whether it’s early morning or late at night after the road goes quiet. Sometimes I lose track of time and work until the sun starts coming up over the buildings.
