Markand Khore Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are located at house number 512 in Manur, which is in the Kalwan taluka of the Nashik district. Our company is made up of farmers from the surrounding valley. We grow mostly onions and some grapes, as that's what the land here is good for. We started this because the market can be very unfair to a single farmer. By coming together as Markand Khore, we have a little more strength when talking to traders. The office is just a part of a house in the village. It’s not polished or professional in the way city offices are. We sit around and talk about the weather, the pests, and the fluctuating prices at the mandi. Everyone here knows each other. We’ve grown up in these fields and we know the work is never finished. We don't have any corporate slogans. We are just focused on the practical side of getting our crops grown and sold. Sometimes we struggle with the paperwork and the rules, but we help each other out. It's a very simple and direct way of doing things. We don't have any staff to answer phones or write emails. It’s just us, the farmers, trying to make the most of our harvest each year. It’s a hard life but it’s ours, and we do the best we can with it.
