Our factory is situated at Plot No. 11/ B in the G. I. D. C. area. If you know the industrial estate, you know it is a place where people get their hands dirty. We focus on gum production here, which means the air inside the unit often smells a bit sweet and sticky. It is a private company, but it feels more like a small workshop because we all know each other so well. The machines are old but they still do the job of mixing and processing the raw materials. We don't have a polished front desk or a lobby with magazines. You just walk through the main gate and you are right there in the middle of the production floor. The G. I. D. C. is a noisy place with trucks constantly moving in and out, and we are just one part of that constant hum. We spend a lot of time monitoring the batches to make sure the consistency is right. Sometimes things go wrong with the power or a machine breaks down, and we have to spend the afternoon fixing it ourselves. We don't have a big mission statement on the wall. We just focus on making sure the orders are filled and the quality is okay before we load the crates onto the delivery trucks. It’s practical, repetitive work, but it keeps us busy and the bills paid. We just take it one day at a time here.
