Work-Wall Enterprise

If you head into Phase 2 of the GIDC in Chhatral, you’ll find us at plot 1710. Work-Wall Enterprise is basically just a big industrial shed where we handle a lot of materials for making partitions and temporary walls. It is a very industrial setting with lots of other factories and workshops all around us. The air usually smells like cut metal and the exhaust from the nearby chemical plants. We spend the day cutting sections to size and loading them onto small trucks for delivery. It isn't a glamorous job by any means. We have a lot of metal off-cuts sitting in the corner and a layer of dust seems to get on everything no matter how much we clean. The phone rings a lot with people asking about specific sizes and how soon we can get things delivered. Sometimes we get the measurements slightly wrong and have to redo the whole piece, which is a real pain for everyone involved. There are about five of us working here most days. We drink a lot of water and tea because it gets very stuffy inside these GIDC units when the sun is out. We don’t have a website or any big marketing, just the painted sign on the front door. People usually find us through word of mouth or by just driving through the estate looking for a supplier. We start early, around eight in the morning, and stay until the last truck is loaded and gone.
