At Lamin Art, we spend our days at Plot No. 3219 in Phase-3 of the Gidc Estate. The work here involves a lot of large sheets and heavy materials being moved from one side of the floor to the other. You can often see dust motes floating in the light coming through the high windows. It is a big space, but it fills up fast when we have a lot of stock coming in. We try to keep things organized, but on busy days, it can look a little chaotic to an outsider. We have a few big tables where we do most of the sorting and checking. The staff here is a mix of people who have lived in the area for a long time. We don't spend much time on fancy emails or anything like that. Usually, we are just talking to each other across the room or checking the orders on the clipboard. The floor is concrete and can be hard on the feet, so most of us wear thick boots. In the winter, it gets a bit chilly in the mornings until the sun hits the roof. We have a small kettle for making tea, which is pretty much the center of our break time. It is a quiet life in some ways, even with the industrial noises outside. We just stay focused on getting the sheets done right at our plot in Phase-3.
