Out in Chhatral, specifically at Plot No. 3522-23-24-31 in Phase-IV of the GIDC, you will find our setup. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here from the main city, but the space is worth it. We have several plots joined together to fit all our equipment. The metal roof gets quite loud when it rains, making it hard to hear anyone talking. We just shout a bit louder or use hand signals. There is always a layer of fine dust on the windows, no matter how many times we wipe them down. The work is mostly manual, so everyone stays pretty active throughout the shift. We keep a water cooler near the entrance because it gets incredibly thirsty work. Our desks are old wooden ones that have been with us since we started. There is no reception desk or anything like that. If you walk in, you just find whoever is closest to the door. We handle the shipping and receiving ourselves, often helping the drivers tie down the loads. The yard outside has some weeds growing in the corners, but we try to keep the main paths clear. It’s a basic industrial life. We focus on the daily output and making sure the tally at the end of the day is correct. Sometimes we stay late to finish a big order, but usually, we’re out by sunset. The road out here is bumpy, but it’s a quiet place to get the work done.
