Our shop is right across from the Kalka Mata Mandir on Samrat Road, which means we hear the temple bells all day long. It's a busy spot in Mandsau, especially during the festivals when the streets get packed with people. We've got shoes piled up everywhere inside. It's not a huge space, so we have to use every bit of the walls to stack the boxes. Most days, we’re just helping neighbors find a pair of sandals or boots that fit right and don't cost too much. We get a lot of dust coming in from the road, so there's a fair bit of dusting to do every morning before we open. The chairs for trying on shoes are a bit old now, but they still work fine. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the people walking past. It's a lot of standing around and waiting for customers, then a rush of people all at once. Sometimes the sizes are a bit mixed up in the boxes, and it takes us a minute to find the right match. We don't do anything fancy with the window display, just put out what we have. It’s a simple life running a shoe store in this part of town. We just try to keep things honest and make sure the footwear is sturdy enough for the local roads. Even when the inventory gets a bit messy, we eventually find what we are looking for.
