KALIMPONG CONSTRUCTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED is based out of Shiva Kumar Sharma's place in Ramitey, which is in the Lower Dungra Busty area of Kalimpong. Working in the hills is a lot different than working on the plains. We have to deal with steep slopes and winding roads every day. Our office is a quiet spot where we plan out our construction projects and keep track of our tools and materials. It’s a very local operation, and most of us have grown up right here in these mountains. We don’t have a fancy corporate headquarters, just this space where we can sit down and figure out the best way to build on the terrain we have. The weather can be a real challenge, with the mist and the heavy rains, but we just work around it as best as we can. People in Kalimpong know us because we’ve been around for a while, and they just come by Shiva’s place if they need to talk about a project. We keep things very simple and don't bother with any marketing or promotional stuff. Our work speaks for itself when people see the houses and walls we’ve built around the town. It’s hard, physical work and it requires a lot of patience. Most days end with us looking over the progress we made while the sun goes down over the hills. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do and we are used to it.
