If you are ever up in Kurseong, you might have seen our sign at the Super Market. We are in shop Ff-22, which is right by the Park Location. Bansal & Sons is just a small, family-run business. We’ve been in this spot for more years than I can easily count. The weather up here in the hills can be pretty unpredictable. Some days the mist is so thick you can’t even see across the street, and other days it’s clear enough to see the mountains. We sell a variety of general goods that the local people need for their homes. It is a very simple operation. We don't have any fancy marketing plans or a big sales team. It is usually just one or two of us behind the counter. We know most of the people who walk through the door because they are our neighbors. The shop is a bit cramped because we try to fit as much stock as we can on the shelves. Sometimes the delivery trucks have trouble making it up the winding roads from the plains, so we have to manage with what we have on hand. It is a quiet life compared to the big cities. We open up early and close when the sun goes down. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy things. It is just a regular part of life in Kurseong for us.
