Vedanta Aluminium Ltd.

Out here in Brahmani Guda, life moves a little differently. We are the Vedanta Aluminium Ltd team based in the Kalahandi district of Orissa. Our place is reached via Junagarh. It’s a fairly remote spot, surrounded by a lot of open land and hills. We’ve got our site set up here to handle the local side of the aluminium work. It’s a rugged environment. The sun in Kalahandi can be really intense, so we plan our heavy work for the early morning. We aren't a corporate office with air conditioning in every corner. Most of us are out on the floor or in the yard most of the day. We have a small post office nearby in Brahmani Guda for our mail. The Pin is 766014. Working here means you have to be practical. If something breaks, we usually have to fix it ourselves because help isn’t always right around the corner. We get to know the locals pretty well since many of them work with us or live just down the road. It’s a community-led kind of workplace. We don't use big words or have complicated rules. We just know what needs to be done with the metal and we do it. It’s tough work sometimes, but it’s honest. We’re just a bunch of regular people making sure the plant runs the way it’s supposed to every day, year in and year out. It’s a steady life.
